Our Home in the Root River Valley
Begin or end your trip through beautiful southeast Minnesota right here in Fountain, the western-most trail head of the Root River Trail System and Fountain Visitors Center. Two scenic state bike and water trails, the Root River State Trail and the Harmony-Preston Valley State Trail, connect the scenic towns of southeast Minnesota. These 60 miles of paved trails are used for biking, jogging, walking, in-line skating, and cross-country skiing.

There are many hollow pockets within the Limestone bedrock giving way to the weight above it, creating sinkholes. Fountain has a very large number of them.
